A new play area is in the process of being built behind Micklefield Community Centre, replacing the old play area previously sited in Forest Way. Local residents have already had trouble with people hanging around the construction site and one resident had their greenhouse destroyed by rubble at the site being thrown. The site has now been made more secure.

06 Mar : 21:39 | HOW PREDICTABLE WHY DIDN'T THE COUNCIL LISTEN TO LOCAL RESIDENTS FEARS IN THE FIRST PLACE THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY SAID WOULD HAPPEN I kNOW THAT IT IS POLITICALY CORRECT TO DO THINGS FOR THE ELDERLY AND THE KIDS OF ANY AREA AFTERALL IT IS A VOTE WINNER BUT THIS IS GOING TO BE AN EXPENSIVE MISTAKE THE NEXT THING WILL BE THAT IT BECOMES A MAGNET FOR THE JUNKIES ON THE ESTATE AND SOME LITTLE TOT WILL PICK UP A NEEDLE THEN WHERE WILL THAT LEAD ?. IT WILL BE TO LATE WHY DONT THE COUNCIL USE COMMON SENSE ADMIT THEY WERE WRONG AND PUT MORE EFFORT IN TO THE PLAY AREAS BY THE SCHOOL AND IN MELBOURNE PARK |

03 May : 17:54 | I've used the park with my 3 & 7 year olds 3 times in the last week or so. Each time we were the only ones there. Other than lots of stones all over the floor there was no sign of any litter or needles or anything else sinister. If parents are responsible and make a quick check before hand there is no risk of a child picking up anything nasty. We usually use the park at Kingsmead which really is a magnet for mouthy teenagers so it was refreshing to be in a play area where I'm not cringing about the language my children are hearing. |
